The sustainability initiative Flustix distinguishes BVO cups as “plastic-free products”. Because the cups do not have a plastic coating and are made of paper. This means that the packaging expert from Jettingen in Baden-Württemberg can offer its corporate customers its first certified and tested plastic-free paper cups.
Every year, in Germany around 2.8 billion disposable cups are used for beverages “to go”, 40 percent of which are made of pure plastic (UBA 2019). But even the supposedly more sustainable disposable cardboard vessels are problematic, as they usually have a plastic coating inside. Because of this plastic content, recycling of the paper fibres is hardly possible and if it does, it is uneconomical.
The Pure-Paper Cups from BVO International GmbH, disposable cups for hot drinks, cold drinks and ice cream cups are now Flustix certified and can now bear the “plastic-free product” seal. Since the award-winning cups do not use plastics, they can be disposed of in waste paper and thus get back into a closed circle instead of incineration.
“In our mobile society, which is still dominated by the pandemic, it has become even more difficult to do without to go products. This makes the innovative performance that the paper cups from BVO International GmbH do without plastic coating all the more pleasing. With the Flustix certification of the Pure-Paper Cups, companies and consumers can choose now more easily for a plastic-free and more environmentally friendly to go cup variant”
Malte Biss, Managing Director Flustix
For Flustix, the award of the Pure-Paper Cups also marks another important milestone in the mission to avoid plastic.
