Warning for disposable plastic from July 2021
The Federal Government decides on the obligation to label articles made of disposable plastics from July 2021.
Many disposable plastic products will be banned in the EU from July 2021. Some others, which cannot currently be banned, will wear a special label warning of environmental damage caused by plastic in the future. The Federal Cabinet has adopted the disposable plastic labelling ordinance for this purpose. They want to sensitize citizens with clearly recognizable labels for the conscious handling of plastic.
Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze: “We want to prevent careless discarding of plastic packaging and articles. Because disposable products end up far too often in nature or in the sewersystem.
The new warnings will be clearly integrated into the layout of the packaging of plastic-containing products from 3 July 2021. Manufacturers of plastic-containing articles will no longer be allowed to place unlabelled products on the market from July. The marking consists of a pictogram and a text identifying the product category.
